Animations

I'm also in an animation class this semester.  Here's my exaggerated walk cycle and acrobatic animation.

Paper Cut

This is my final from the intro to 3D animation class.  It probably could be better if I knew more about rigging.  Anyway, the synopsis is that a piece of paper learns that he can fly.

Demo Reel

Here's my demo reel for now.  It doesn't have any Estefan stuff in it because nothing is finalized enough to show.
(Don't tell youtube, but I think the Vimeo version is better) -> http://vimeo.com/35425141

The Great Escape

For the 2d final I decided to tell the story of a renegade flour sack escaping the oppressive confines of the kitchen.  Yeah, it's a very complex and thought provoking setup, you may want to watch it twice.
I realized soon after adding the dog's legs that they were messed up, but I wasn't able to fix it completely.  Here's one of my test animations from that process.

Flour Sack

The next assignment was to make a flour sack jump.  So I made a flour sack and I made it jump.  But what story about the life of a flour sack would be complete without suprise, scientists, explosions, horror, and fun?  So those were added in too.
By the way, our teacher for this class was Cynthia Hogan (Overman).

2D Animation

Now we can get to the fun stuff.  The first project for my 2D animation class at BYU was a ball drop.  We just had to make a ball bounce.  We only had a week or two to do each project, so it was a fun challenge.  Your whole week was devoted to creating 5 seconds of film; we really got to know the project in depth that way.  I loved that class.
This is an edited version of the video I put up earlier.  The teacher wanted me to randomize the fall of the parachute a bit and take out some squash and stretch on the ball.  I wodered what it would look like in pen so I tried that.  Let me know what you think compared to the original.
A) Better
B) Worse
C) I Like Turtles

Dimension 16

This is a personal project I worked on.  Work was really boring one day, so I came up with this idea while standing around wondering, "What would time travel be like?"  Will there be melting clocks and Deloreans?  Oompa Loompas?  Part of this was inspired by my physics class challenging me to think in new ways.  I really enjoyed that class.  I recommend it to anyone with writers block, needing artistic inspiration, or just suffering from plain old boredom.

Breaktime

There's still two more posts to go from my figure drawing class, but it gets boring to keep posting the same kind of thing over and over.  Here's a preview of my 2d animation class to break up the monotony.  Enjoy.
